Your plan at a glance
The next thing to do, and how long until it.

Every phase, in order
Grouped by before, during and after the flight.

Reminders that follow the plan
Scheduled on your phone. Nothing is pushed from a server.
The cost of doing nothing
Unaided, your body shifts about an hour a day.
That is the rate a body clock drifts on its own, and it is why a seven-hour eastbound flight can mean the better part of a week of groggy mornings. A paced plan starts the shift before you board, so less of it is left to do once you have landed.
A plan that spans the whole trip
Advice about jet lag tends to start when you land. A jet lag planner has to start earlier than that: a body clock moves in small daily steps, and the first of those steps belong to the nights before you fly, while you are still at home and in control of your own light.
SLEEP
The days before you fly
Your sleep window moves a little each day in the run-up, in the direction you are travelling. By the time you board, the time zone you are landing in is one your body has already started living on.
FLIGHT
The flight itself
When to sleep, when to stay awake, when to seek light and when to avoid it — placed against your real departure and arrival times, in the local time of each airport.
RECOVERY
The days after you land
Adaptation does not finish at the gate. The plan keeps going for as many days as your shift needs, and re-paces itself when you tell it how you actually slept.
Why any of this works
The plan is built on well-established circadian mechanics rather than folklore. These explain the reasoning, and are worth reading whether or not you use the app.
How jet lag works
Why the body clock does not reset on arrival, what actually moves it, and how long that takes.
Light timing
The largest lever there is — and the same daylight helps or hurts depending only on the hour you get it.
Why flying east is harder
The same number of time zones costs more going east, for a reason built into the clock itself.

Questions
- How do you beat jet lag?
- Move your body clock deliberately rather than waiting for it to catch up, and start before you fly rather than after you land. Light is the strongest lever, with sleep timing and caffeine behind it, and every one of them shifts you earlier or later depending only on the hour you use it — which is why the timing matters more than the effort. Working that out for one particular flight is what Jetlag Away does; the four guides linked on this page explain the mechanism it uses.
- How is this different from just "stay awake until bedtime"?
- That advice is the same for every flight. Jetlag Away works from your actual route, your actual departure and arrival times, and the sleep pattern you already have — so a seven-hour eastbound shift gets a different plan from a three-hour westbound one, and both get one that starts before you leave.
- Do I need to start days in advance?
- No. The plan covers whatever time it has. Starting earlier gives it more room to move your body clock gradually, which is easier, but a plan made the night before still tells you what to do on the flight and after you land.
- What exactly does the free trial include?
- Everything. For 30 minutes you have the full app — build a real plan for a real trip and look at every phase and reminder it produces. No card and no email address: the trial starts as a guest session. It is one per device, so it does not restart by reinstalling, and you are only asked for an email if you decide to keep going — which keeps the plan you already made.
- Does it work for short trips?
- It will build a plan for any shift, but for a one or two hour difference there is not much to gain. Jetlag Away earns its place on the long east–west flights, where the shift is big enough that doing nothing costs you days.
- What about the flight back?
- Create a second trip for the return leg. Each plan covers one direction, because adapting out and adapting back are different problems.
- Is my travel data private?
- Your plans are stored against your account and are visible to nobody else. The usage analytics that help improve the app never include your route, your times, or the contents of your plan — and you can switch analytics off entirely. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is and is not collected.
- Is this medical advice?
- No. Jetlag Away is a scheduling tool that produces general guidance about light, sleep and caffeine. It is not a medical device and it does not replace advice from a doctor. The terms explain when you should talk to one first.

The whole app is free for 30 minutes — long enough to build a plan for a real flight and decide whether it earns its place.
